2015 Dodge Barracuda

2015 Dodge Barracuda: Similar in size to the current Mustang, the Barracuda is expected to lose more than six inches from the Challenger’s wheelbase and close to eight in overall length. Rear track and overall width are forecast to shrink by a bit more than two inches. Weight will drop by between 250 and 300 pounds. The front suspension may move from control arms to a strut setup; the rear suspension will remain multilink, with new geometry.

Mindful of tightening CAFE requirements, powertrain offerings will expand to include at least one variant of the new 2.4-liter Tigershark inline-four, possibly force-fed. While the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 is expected to get direct injection at about the time the ’Cuda arrives, CAFE more than market demand will determine whether a V-6 is offered. Expect the Hemi V-8 to carry on, with direct injection increasing power and efficiency. We hear it’s unlikely that both the 5.7- and 6.4-liter versions will be offered but hope Chrysler reverses its thinking there. Two Hemis would go a long way toward cementing the SRT brand’s authenticity. Source

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT: 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT undergoing testing in the desert with a new 600-plus horsepower supercharged V-8 dubbed “Hellcat”. The Hellcat is Chrysler’s answer to the 662-horsepower Ford Mustang GT500 and 580-horsepower Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The car will receive power from a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that should make it competitive with the aforementioned cars; the current Challenger SRT 392 has a 470-horsepower, 6.4-liter engine. It’s unclear whether both engines will be sold alongside one another.

2015 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Hellcat 08 300x199 imageMoving in a cadre of SRT vehicles, the Hellcat-equipped Dodge Challengers look to have revised noses with new, deeper air intakes to feed their vastly more powerful engines. The protruding exhaust setup around back looks temporary to make sure the engine flows properly. Look for the pipes and rear bumper to be revised for the production version. Speaking of production, expect the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with the Hellcat engine to go on sale in 2014 as a 2015 model, with the car possibly making its debut at January’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit. 2013 Dodge Ram 1500

2013 Dodge Ram 1500: 2013 Ram surrounds fuel economy and includes some major powertrain revisions and additional tech. At the low end, Chrysler’s Pentastar V-6 now handles base-engine duties for the 1500 SLT. (The ancient, 310-hp 4.7-liter SOHC V-8 is the base engine for the entry-level 1500 Tradesman; the V-6 is available as an option.) Compared with last year’s 215-hp, 3.7-liter lump of a V-6, the new engine makes 90 more hp and 34 additional lb-ft of torque for new totals of 305 and 269.

The Pentastar comes mated exclusively to an equally new, ZF-designed eight-speed automatic transmission Ram has dubbed with some historical pomp the “TorqueFlite 8.” The 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 carries over for 2013, but nets an additional five hp for a new total of 395. Both V-8s hook up to a standard six-speed automatic, but the Hemi will receive a version of the eight-speed as an option sometime early next year. 2013 Dodge Dart

2013 Dodge Dart: The lightest Dart Dodge sells is still a heifer at nearly 3,200 pounds. The Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra weigh a shade over 2,600 lbs, the Toyota Corolla and Mazda3 come in near 2,800 lbs, the Ford Focus is 2,960 lbs and the Chevy Cruze, once considered the porker of the segment, tips the scales at a bit under 3,100 pounds. Put another way, the Dart, without a single passenger, weighs as much as a Honda Civic with four 150-pound occupants.

Three engine options are available (or at least will be available once the delayed R/T model hits dealerships), including a standard 2.0-liter naturally aspirated mill, a 1.4-liter turbocharged and intercooled unit that leads the pack in efficiency and a 2.4-liter with 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque for those looking for the most powerful option. We drove a Dart with the standard 2.0-liter engine mated to a six-speed automatic for a week, then sampled the 1.4-liter turbo with a six-speed manual. Both engines move the Dart with competence through traffic.

2013 Dodge Viper

Though the 2013 Dodge Viper early reveal rumor turned out to be fake, there is some news about the new Dodge supercar that’s bound to raise the spirits of enthusiasts sky high. In a time when just about every manufacturer shies away from any sort of large capacity engine and instead opts for force fed smaller one, Dodge decided the Viper can say no. Not only will they still use a big V10 engine but they’ll even enlarge it to 8.7 (old one was 8.3) liters for good measure.

This would mean that the new Dodge Viper would feature the largest ever engine Chrysler ever put into a car that wasn’t built to carry around several tons of freight. They may have managed to win over the company’s fans but there’s going to be some trouble with the engineers who will still have the job of making the leviathan engine at least mildly fuel efficient. If they fail at making an 8.4 liter V10 efficient we’ll just have to consider the 2013 Dodge Viper as brash and crude as ever while still becoming modern.

Fast Five - Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger

In the movie Fast Five, Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger comes with a black light bulb, becoming more ferocious and very sporty. Nuances of classic cars are still very pronounced with the round headlights. With a machine that stands out on the hood, is characteristic of Dominic Toretto 1970 Dodge Charger. The back is the Ford 9-inch mounted on leaf springs. Tires are 255/45R20 front and 305/45R20 rear-General on wheels Torq-Thrust-style Coy’s 20-inch. Front suspension and steering changes by body part is relatively lightweight fiberglass and the result is a surprisingly sweet car to drive. Its a manual steering was very heavy and require less power, but it is accurate and relatively quick.

Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger is powered by a Chevrolet small-block V8 crate. Rating 400 horsepower when it was bought from Year One, this 5.7-liter OHV engine GM-built no slouch. But there is a frame-rotate 900-hp Hemi good. And with the support of GM Turbohydramatic three speed automatic transmission 400 is equipped with manual valve bodies and controlled by a ratchet shifter Winters, when you move from gear one to gear two, your body feel attracted by something that is very fast and it feels as if the body toward on the dimensions of a faster pace with the time difference very quickly.
