2013 Ford GT500: was unveiled today, offering the world's most powerful production V8 engine. The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 will be premiered at the 2011 LA Auto Show, and it will probably go on sale soon after. The new powerplant of the 2013 Shelby GT500 is a 5.8-liter V8 aluminum-block unit, with an output of 650 hp and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. Although it has mountains of power, Ford's 2013 Shelby GT500 is exempt from the gas-guzzler tax.
To get the extra power, Ford uses an optimized supercharger, together with several other updates. The engine of the 2013 GT500 Shelby is mated to a six-speed manual transmission with a 3.31:1 final drive ratio. Ford's engineers chose less torque in favour of a lower fuel consumption. The new GT500 also comes with Brembo brakes, a Torsen limited-slip diff and a launch control function.
