2015 Subaru Impreza

The WRX and its STI sibling are affordable, high-performance, all-wheel-drive turbocharged rally rockets, and the pair have long been enthusiast darlings. But if these spy photos do in fact show a nearly production-ready 2014 WRX well, let’s just say we’d be very sad pandas. Subaru had stated that the concept was a solid indication of where the production WRX would go, and the claim seemed more than plausible given that the WRX will ditch its association with the Impreza and get a unique platform. Plainly stated, this car doesn’t look like the show car.

Of course, Subaru has played this game before, launching the delectable Impreza concept at the 2012 L.A. show in advance of the far dowdier production model. The headlight design and big hexagonal grille on this car match those of the concept, but it otherwise is essentially a current-generation Impreza sedan with a giant wing swiped from today’s STI and an intake on the hood. The prototype’s key dimensions seem to shadow those of the Impreza, and it doesn’t appear as though any of the economy sedan’s hard points were changed here, which would let some of the air out of the “unique platform” balloon. 2015 Subaru WRX

2015 Subaru WRX: The Subaru WRX has been an enthusiast staple. Expectations couldn't be higher for the newest model, and Subaru gave us a taste of things to come earlier this year with the WRX concept. Now, the 2015 Subaru WRX has been fully revealed at the 2013 Los Angeles auto show, and things look promising for the successor to the famed rally special. Auto Show Floor Update: Yeah, yeah, the new 2015 WRX may have an optional CVT, but with a minor power bump, new six-speed manual, and handling lessons learned from the BRZ, the new WRX promises to be better than ever.

Subaru borrowed the turbocharged, direct-injected 2.0-liter boxer four-cylinder from the Forester XT, and employs a high 10.6:1 compression ratio, twin-scroll turbocharger, and the Subaru Dual Active Valve Control System. The engine gets different camshafts and higher-rate valve springs, among other upgrades unique to the WRX, to bring output to 268 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, which peaks between 2000 and 5200 rpm. That represents an increase of 3 hp and 14 lb-ft of torque over the previous-gen model's turbo 2.5-liter. Source

2015 Subaru Legacy

2015 Subaru Legacy: The new Legacy will arrive in showrooms as a 2015 model, in keeping with Subaru’s five-year product cycles, and we should see it unveiled early next year. Though the prototype is heavily masked, we can clearly see its styling has borrowed elements from Subaru’s striking WRX concept shown at the 2013 New York Auto Show. Key elements include a rectangular grille, coupe-like profile, C-shaped lights at the rear, and dual-exhaust tips.

According to our photographer, the prototype was seen testing alongside an Audi Allroad and the outgoing Infiniti G37x. Symmetrical all-wheel drive will remain standard. As for powertrains, expect a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit to continue in the base 2.5i model. This engine was only added for the outgoing Legacy’s 2013 facelift, so expect its 173-horsepower rating to also remain unchanged. A six-speed manual should remain the standard transmission option, with a continuously variable transmission continuing to be offered as an option.  Source

2013 Subaru BRZ

2013 Subaru BRZ: Despite a displacement difference of just 3 cc, the naturally aspirated FA and FB fours have dramatically different outputs. The B’s 148 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque (as installed in the Impreza) lag 52 and 6 behind the A’s 200 and 151 Subaru’s stated output while the A’s 7400-rpm redline is 800 higher. Thank Toyota’s fuel-injection setup, which squirts both via intake ports.

And directly into the cylinder the system is Big T’s lone contribution to the engine and allows a crushing compression ratio of 12.5:1. “Crushing” is not a descriptor we’d employ for the acceleration, although we estimate a 0-to-60-mph time of around six seconds flat with the six-speed manual; add a couple of tenths with the six-speed auto. Top speed is said to be 143 mph. A resonator pipes sound into the cabin, and above 5000 rpm, there’s enough noise inside the car that you’ll need to scream to talk.

2012 Subaru Forester

2012 Subaru Forester: Subaru Forester vehicles, manufactured between November 2007 to March 2012, will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers which will inspect the rear seat belts and replace them if necessary, free of charge. The NHTSA is also saying that the rear center seat belt system does not meet federal safety standards and these could inhibit the proper installation of child safety seats because the automatic locking retractors do not lock properly.

Subaru didn’t say anything about reports received from customers regarding this problem and we don’t know for sure whether or not injuries occurred because of the defective rear seat belts, but if ignores, the risk of an injury to passengers sitting in the seat could increase during a collision. Subaru’s mechanics will replace the rear center seat belt assembly with a new one and the recall is expected to start soon.

2012 Subaru Impreza

2012 Subaru Impreza: for a new four-cylinder boxer engine of 2.0 liter 148 horsepower that is. The engine produces a longer stroke and uses two camshafts, and dual Active Valve Control (CVAD) for the efficient and low emission. Choice of transmission will be a 5-speed manual transmission or a new continuously variable transmission lighter (CVT), which claims to offer Subaru smooth overall performance. Premium, Sport and Limited trim levels with CVT have a manual 6-speed with paddle shift. Training Other updates include a new electric power steering system.

2012 Subaru Impreza sedan and five-door will go on sale this fall. Pricing is not expected to be announced until the car goes on sale, but we expect it to be comparable to the 2011 models. The 2011 Impreza starts at $17,495 plus a destination charge of $725. The top Impreza Premium model retails for $19,995, and many options are available. (All New Car Test Drive prices are Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices, which do not include destination charge and may change at any time without notice.)

Subaru BRZ Concept STI

The Japanese carmaker did not release any further information on its concept model. The rear-wheel drive BRZ is the result of an ongoing joint-project between Subaru and Toyota Motor Corporation. It shares its platform, drivetrain and as we can see from the single picture, its body shell as well with the Toyota FT-86. The only noteworthy styling differences between the Toyota and the Subaru that we can see from this angle aside from the aero kit, carbon fiber roof and STI alloy wheels, are the tail lamp, boot lid and rear bumper/diffuser designs. We're not sure if Subaru will market the BRZ (which stands for “Boxer engine”, “Rear-wheel drive” and “Zenith”) with the STI moniker or if the company will offer an STI derivative based on this study.

Whatever the case, the BRZ will be offered with a 2.0-liter flat-four linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox, and possibly, a 6-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. It has been rumored but not yet confirmed that the boxer engine will be more powerful in the Subaru BRZ than in the Toyota FT-86 where we recently learned that it produces 200-horses.

2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STi 330S

Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is pleased to announce pricing for the 2011 high-performance Impreza WRX and WRX STI models. In addition to the new styling, the 2011 WRX STI features significantly revised suspension tuning and lighter 18-inch wheels for even sharper handling.“The 2011 4-door WRX STI will expand the appeal of this iconic performance model to a wider range of driving enthusiasts.”

The 2011 Impreza WRX STI models are en route to Subaru dealerships now:

New WRX STI Four-Door with Wide-Body Design:

The 2011 WRX STI continues as the ultimate-performance Subaru with its high-boost 305-horsepower turbocharged/intercooled Subaru Boxer engine teamed with a 6-speed manual transmission and the exclusive Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD) version of Subaru’s Symmetrical Full-time All-Wheel Drive system.  The WRX STI is equipped with advanced dynamic control systems, including Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) and a Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system, which features a track performance-optimized mode.

All-New 4-Door Wide Body Design for 2011:

Like the wide-body design already used for the 5-door WRX STI, the new 4-door WRX STI features the widened front and rear track dimensions of the 5-door model and wider, more pronounced front fenders and rear quarter panels. In front, the 2011 WRX STI models feature sharpened bumper corners to accentuate the “wide and low” profile. A striking high profile rear spoiler was exclusively designed for the STI 4-door.
New WRX STI Chassis Tuning for 2011:

The Subaru WRX STI was already a highly optimized performance machine. The WRX STI delivers responsive handling along with everyday ride compliance. Aluminum front lower L-arms reduce unsprung vehicle weight.  Both the front and rear suspension systems employ higher-rate springs and thicker front and rear stabilizer bars than the 2010 model: 21 mm vs. 20 mm in front and 19 mm vs. 18 mm in rear. New standard 18-inch Enkei aluminum wheels feature high-luster paint and weigh 8kg less than the previous standard wheels.

SI-DRIVE Gives WRX STI Driver More Control:

SI-DRIVE alters vehicle performance characteristics by regulating the Engine Control Module (ECM) and by fine-tuning the Electronic Throttle Control system.

Multi-Mode DCCD All-Wheel Drive with Three-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control:

As before, the 2011 WRX STI is exclusively equipped with the Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Centre Differential (DCCD) version of Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. A mechanical limited-slip type centre differential augments an electronically controlled centre differential to enhance torque transfer performance. Sensor inputs that include steering angle, throttle position, RPM, lateral g, yaw, brake, ABS and wheel speed govern torque transfer response. A helical-type limited-slip front differential and a TORSEN(R) torque-sensing limited-slip rear differential optimize side-to-side power distribution, helping to prevent the inside wheels from slipping during cornering.

The DCCD AWD system features three automatic modes. The Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) stability and traction control system is standard on all Subaru models. Exclusive to the WRX STI, the Multi-Mode VDC system offers the driver three settings: VDC Normal, Traction and Off. Also exclusive to the WRX STI, the Brembo Performance Brake System uses ventilated 4-wheel disc brakes with Super Sport anti-lock (ABS) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). The wheel features control switches for Bluetooth(R) hands-free phone function. The WRX STI models are equipped with standard aluminum-alloy pedals and driver’s footrest. Performance-design front seats integrate the backrest and head restraint into a single structure. A 60/40-split folding rear seat further boosts cargo capacity and convenience, and the 4-door also features a rear seat fold-down centre armrest.

Steering wheel mounted controls for the audio system, cruise control and Bluetooth(R) are standard for all 2011 Impreza WRX STI models. Subaru Safety. Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) provides precise control of braking pressure between the front and rear wheels based on the vehicle load to improve stability and stopping distances. All Impreza models utilize the proven advanced Subaru Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frame body structure with front and rear crumple zones. Front seat side airbags and side-curtain airbags are standard on all Subaru models.
